Dr. Matthew C. Nimmich

Dr. Matthew Nimmich was born and raised in Summerville, South Carolina and has been interested in dentistry from an early age. His father was a general dentist who later specialized in Endodontics and relocated their family to Sumter, South Carolina.

Dr. Nimmich attended Wofford College and was a member of the Pre-Dental Society and took part in the Pre-Dental Interim program at MUSC College of Dental Medicine. He majored in Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wofford College in 2009. After college, he enrolled at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine in Charleston and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013.

Following graduation, he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV in 2014. After his GPR, he completed a surgery internship year at the University of Mississippi Medical Center followed by his four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. During his last year of residency he acted as chief resident and was awarded the Dr. Sigurds Krolls Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Excellence Award. His surgical interests include dentoalveolar surgery, trauma, and pathology.

He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was also published in August 2019 edition of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, target shooting, boating, wakeboarding, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and Ole Miss Rebels.
