Calling from a doctor’s office for a patient…

Please contact the office where you wish the patient to be seen and have the patient’s information ready for the care consultant.  You can also refer a patient directly to us through our on-line referral portal and attach any forms or x-rays you would like to send

Important things to know…

All patients are required to undergo a full consultation with our team first before any care is rendered.

We do not routinely perform walk-in surgery extractions and procedures for most patients. This is intended to protect all our patients from the risk of inadequate informed consent where the patient does not fully understand the medical and financial considerations involved, and they are not prepared medically or financially for the care they require. If a patient is eligible for same-day treatment, we will inform them after the consultation is completed.

If you wish to have the procedure performed the same day of your consultation, you must inform the office when you call to set up your initial appointment. We will not expect to perform your procedure at the same time of your consultation unless you tell us in advance and we are prepared. You must also be medically prepared and financially prepared to pay for the entire cost of the procedure when you arrive or we will be unable to perform your procedure.

Emergencies…

WE ARE NOT A DENTAL EMERGENCY WALK-IN CLINIC OR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY ROOM.

IF YOU ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY BREATHING OR SWALLOWING, GO DIRECTLY TO A MAJOR HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM.  WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CARE FOR YOU IN OUR SMALL OFFICES.

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING AN ACUTE DENTAL EMERGENCY WITH INFECTION, SEVERE PAIN, OR TRAUMATIC INJURY, OR YOU ARE CALLING FROM A DOCTOR’S OFFICE TO SCHEDULE A PATIENT WITH THESE CONDITIONS, PLEASE LET OUR STAFF KNOW WHEN YOU CALL.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE AN EMPTY STOMACH WITH NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK (INCLUDING ANY WATER) FOR UP TO 6 HOURS FOR ANY I.V. SEDATION PROCEDURE AND TO ARRIVE WITH AN ADULT ESCORT TO DRIVE HOME. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE CRITERIA WHEN YOU ARRIVE, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY I.V. SEDATION ANESTHESIA IN ANY OF OUR OFFICES.

Consultations…

Consultations are scheduled from 2:00pm to 4:30pm in the afternoon Monday-Thursday.

Expect to be at the office for at least 1-1.5 hours for your initial consultation.

At your consultation we will do the following:

  1. Review your complete Medical history
  2. Obtain basic vitals including Blood Pressure, Pulse, and Breathing rates and gather any additional medical information required.
  3. Review your referral form sent from your regular dentist.
  4. Review any existing x-rays sent from your dentist, or any x-rays you have with you.
  5. Obtain any new x-rays that may be required.
  6. Examine you and diagnose your condition.
  7. Explain the treatment options that are available to you.
  8. Discuss the risks and benefits of those options with you.
  9. Prepare a cost estimate with your insurance.
  10. Determine with your personal costs may be.
  11. Schedule your next appointment for your procedure.
Procedures…

All our scheduled procedures are performed from 8:00am to 12:00pm Monday-Friday due to the requirements for an empty stomach.  All I.V. sedation procedures require an adult escort to drive home.

PLEASE HAVE NOTHING ELSE SCHEDULED BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE THAT DAY.

YOU SHOULD COME DIRECTLY TO THE OFFICE THAT MORNING AND GO DIRECTLY HOME TO RECOVER AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE.

On the day of your procedure, we will:

  1. Greet you and welcome you when you arrive.
  2. Review your planned procedure and collect any payments up-front based on your estimate and financial agreement signed at your consultation
  3. Seat you in the treatment room
  4. Verify you by name and date of birth
  5. Review your medical history to ensure no changes and nothing to eat status
  6. Review your signed informed consent with you
  7. Attach all the necessary heart monitors and apply gentle oxygen support.
  8. The doctor will then anesthetize you with dental injections (if your procedure is to be performed awake) or initiate an I.V. for delivery of sedation medications (if your procedure is to be performed asleep.)
  9. Perform a final time out safety check to verify you by name, date of birth, and the procedure.
  10. The doctor will safely perform your procedure.
  11. Recover you in the treatment room for a few minutes after your procedure.
  12. If you underwent I.V. sedation, we will then transfer you to a recovery room with monitors for a minimum of 30 minutes of post-operative observation.
  13. Once you are aware and awake and comfortable, we will discuss any post-operative instructions with you and provide with written hand-outs, icer packs, gauze, and any necessary items for you and provide you either paper written prescriptions or send your digital prescriptions directly to your pharmacy of choice.
  14. We will provide you with a follow-up appointment if necessary (not all procedures require a follow-up appointment for check-up)
